🌊 Setanta Yachting Adventures – Book Your Voyage!
Step aboard Setanta, the West Lancs County yacht, and give your Scouts an unforgettable day on the water. This is real adventure: wind, waves, teamwork, and the thrill of handling a sea‑going vessel under the guidance of a qualified skipper.
⭐ What They’ll Learn
Your young people will build:
- Navigation skills – plotting courses, reading charts, understanding tides
- Seamanship – hoisting sails, trimming lines, helming, anchoring
- Teamwork & communication – working as a tight crew in a real marine environment
- Confidence & resilience – taking on challenges at sea
- Practical onboard skills – cooking below deck, keeping watch, and living afloat
Whether they’re total beginners or working toward RYA Start Yachting or Competent Crew, every session is tailored to their level.
⚓ What They’ll Do
A typical session may include:
- Meeting the skipper at Ferry Nab for a safety briefing
- Casting off and learning the basics of sailing
- Taking turns helming the yacht
- Learning knots, sail handling, and onboard routines
- Exploring Windermere from a whole new perspective
- Working together as a crew throughout the day
👥 Group Size & Booking Info
- Capacity: Up to 6 people total, including leaders
- Crew provided: Qualified skipper + leader
- For larger groups, we can split your day into two sessions
- For Scouts and above (Explorers, Network, Adults)
- Leaders must book, and bookings are not confirmed until we contact you to finalise details
- All activities are weather dependent
- Evening sessions can sometimes be arranged with notice — email us to request availability

Who can take part?
Scouts, Explorers, Network members, and Adults. (Cubs and Beavers are recommended to try Dinghy Sailing instead.)
How many people can we bring?
A maximum of 6 people, including leaders. This ensures safety and a high‑quality experience.
Can larger groups participate?
Yes — we can split your day into two sessions so more young people can take part.
Where do we meet?
You’ll meet the skipper at Ferry Nab, where your adventure begins.
Is the booking confirmed once I submit the form?
Not immediately. A leader must make the booking, and it is only confirmed once we contact you to finalise details.
Are sessions weather dependent?
Yes. Safety comes first, so conditions may affect your session.
Can we book an evening sail?
Sometimes! With enough notice, we can arrange evening sessions. Email us to enquire.
Do participants need prior experience?
No — beginners are welcome. We tailor the experience to your group’s ability.
